Awareness Committee

The Awareness Committee is a subcommittee of Collective Action For Children that focuses on raising awareness on a range of issues that affect the safety and well-being of children.

The primary focus of the committee is to plan two major events each year.

National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Each April the Awareness Committee leads a commemoration of National Child Abuse Prevention Month to educate the community on ways to keep children safe and prevent child abuse. Through a unified marketing campaign, community events and partnerships with local businesses, the committee coordinates efforts for the Kansas City area to participate in this important awareness month. Highlights include Wear Blue Day, a proclamation from the Kansas City Mayor, and a multiyear partnership with the Kansas City Royals to honor frontline employees.

Community Care Event

The Awareness Committee organizes a community care event each fall, working with local youth to identify a relevant topic and focus each year.

The inaugural community care event took place in October 2024 as a collaboration between the youth at Jackson County CASA and Synergy Services.

Collective member agencies are invited to nominate one to two representatives from their team to serve on this committee, with a focus on marketing staff and program staff. Contact us at [email protected] to learn more about this committee and how you can get involved.
